| Eric is a bright and kind kid with an astonishingly positive attitude. He was captain of his high school hockey team, continues to be an avid motorcycle enthusiast and is full of life. He is currently attending college. On the outside Eric looks like a typical healthy college kid. However, when he was 17 years old and a senior at Jacobs High School in Algonquin, IL he was diagnosed with an extremely rare cancer called Malignant Psammomatous Melonotic Schwannoma. This is a cancer of the nerve sheath. Little is known about this particular cancer and there is no set course of treatment. Consequently, Eric's family has already made several trips to the Mayo Clinic as well as a trip to Texas in an attempt to ascertain Eric's prognosis and to develop treatment options. Eric has already undergone two separate surgeries and is currently in remission but is still fighting this disease. Eric continues to fight this cancer with great courage and unbelievable strength. With an optimistic attitude and an illustrious personality, Eric feels he can overcome these enormous obstacles. |
The Mission The mission of the Eric Esterle Foundation is to help enrich the life of a child who is courageously facing a life threatening illness.
